Beef been in freezer 1 year!

Should I chuck it or cook it? Is it likely to be edible? It's good quality topside and vacuum packed by the butcher. It just didn;t get cooked last Christmas, and I spent the whole year waiting for an occasion to cook it... none came, now I need every square inch of freezer so it's got to go one way or the other!!

I expect it will be fine. Cook it and see!

I cooked a gammon from the freezer last week when we were snowed in - best before Feb 10. Twas yum.

I think you should be ok. I'd certainly give it a go.

Poledra · 08/12/2010 21:15

I'd cook it - it won't even have freezer burn if it's been vacuum packed.

But then, I eat potatoes that have sprouted, food that gone past its sell-by date and cut the mould off cheese Grin

Defrost it and give it a sniff. It will smell funny if it's off. I'm sure it will be fine.

sethstarkaddersmum · 08/12/2010 21:25

would be fine I think.

There's a picture of a cow on my freezer with 12-18 months beside it. I presume that would make it ok.

Ive had loads of meat in the freezer for 2 years and its been fine.

Ponders · 09/12/2010 10:13

do you have any other glamorous pin-ups, spot? Wink

SpotSplatterSplash · 09/12/2010 10:36

He he, the freezer is in the garage now, I'll study it later and let you know!

I know there is a picture of a sheep, a fish and a chicken, but not sure of the time length underneath.

There's a picture that we have never quite figure out too.
