I used to love to cook and would religiously pour over the cookbooks deciding what was on the menu for the week, now everything has gone to pot and I am not eating properly as I am concentrating so hard on trying to meet everyones needs.
Problem One: DS is so needy that I find it difficult to prepare food unless dh is home or ds is asleep and then it needs to be something that will withstand reheating.
Problem Two: I am a vegetarian
Problem Three: DS is intolerant to dairy and we are about to remove gluten as well, he cant have banana's either
Problem Four: He is extremely fussy and I am really worried as he is losing weight, we are on waiting list for paediatric dietitian and also will be going in for biopsy for gluten soon.
Problem Five: DH doesnt like "Processed" foods so sausages, salami, anything with preservatives etc is out.
I need help with how to organise to get things that suit all of us, at the moment I concentrate on DS and do him meals that I can freeze and then heat as needed as he isnt able to wait while I cook, generally these get binned, I pick at what he hasnt eaten that I am allowed and that is about all I am managing to eat. I finding this all so hard and am so worried about him. I know I have to look after myself first but have lost focus on what I can prepare.

Oh dear...

you essentailly need dairy / gluten AND MEAT free recipies

also could you not make meals for you and meals for little one...

i assume he could have a home made shepheard pie couoldnt he? (and you could use veggie mince etc for you)

I do try to make two meals but it is so much effort, I used to rely heavily on dairy for my meals but can no longer do that with ds' reactions. Have tried shepherds pie but so far he is not so keen, he is not too flash with a spoon as yet and it is quite difficult to manage with a fork and there is no way he will let me feed it to him.

I have a son with food allergies including dairy and wheat. I do lots of risottos for him which he loves and are one pot easy to make and reheat. Shepherds pie is also good. Homemade chicken strips/nuggets coated in cornflake crumbs. You can also buy gluten free spaghetti and pastas. hth

did u say cornflake crumbs?
how do u do that i,d be very interested as always on the look out for new recipes

I buy them at supermarket already done. But I gues you could just crush cornflakes yourself. My ds2 is also allergic to egg, fish and nuts.

I am in Oz and buy them from Woolworths or Coles. I am sure if you check your supermarkets you will find them. They are usually with all of the other breadcrumbs. Other hints for crumbing are crushed rice bubbles and crushed potato crisps.

Try to get hold of any book by Lucy Burney.
I think she has 3
'Boost your childs immune system'
'Optimum nutrition for babies and young children' and 'Immunity foods for healthy kids'
In all of them she offers amazing healthy recipes for all ages up to adult and each recipe has dairy, veggie, vegan & gluten symbols. She lists all foods in these categories ,which can cause allergies in babies and when to introduce certain foods etc.
Hopefully it'll make life a bit easier and you will be able to find meals you can all enjoy together. I cant live without her books. She is a genius!!
