nigella did a fab one, with melted chocolate and crunchy bars! i will see if i can find it.

PavlovtheCat · 21/11/2010 09:11

link to episode it is a nut and chocolate bar, sorry cant find the recipe itself.

ANTagony · 21/11/2010 09:15

Microwave flapjacks here

You can always add chocolate to them whilst still hot (before you turn them out) it melts because of the flapjack heat so you don't need to mess around with hot water and bowls floating on it.

Some sort of tiffin where you melt chocolate, butter and syrup, add biscuits and glace cherries etc.

Rocky road

Nigella peanut butter and chocolate slices

Cornflake and marshmallow cakes - but a bit like krispie cakes

Mini cheesecakes

Nigellas malteser cake. Everyone will ask you for the recipe.

SGertie · 21/11/2010 09:27

Nigella rocky road - from nigella Express. Very quick and easy, but totally delicious!

jemw · 21/11/2010 18:36

PavlovtheCat · 21/11/2010 19:09

jemw thank you! i am going to make that one for my son's birthday party next week, and seeing as he is only going to be 1, and therefore unable to eat it, more for me Wink Grin

BangingNoise · 21/11/2010 19:10

this is delicious!

KurriKurri · 21/11/2010 19:29

these are nice, and very quick to make. But quite sticky so it might be an idea to make them in paper cases.

jemw · 21/11/2010 21:54

NP Pavlov - I made them and they were good, made quite small slices though as very rich
And the tip about using the foil BBQ tray worked really well!
Enjoy!

My primrose bakery cupcake book has a fantastic recipe for mars bar cupcakes.

Essentially, chocolate cornflake cakes, but made with marsbars.

Melted butter (about 50g) and golden syrup (about 2 or 3 tablespoons, from memory). Then add 4 or 5 mars bars, chopped into small bits. Allow to just melt and then stir in cornflakes gently, to the point that the cornflakes are well coated.

Put into mini muffin or small cupcake cases (they're really rich so anything bigger than a couple of bites is a bit much).

We've modified the recipe a bit, adding marshmallows (only about 4 or 5 in total) to make mars-mallow cupcakes.

The book says to ice with chocolate icing, but there are limits! Wink

Unfortunatley as it is a shcool event it is no nuts but Nigella's Rocky Road sounds good.

I make Nigella's Rocky Road for school - just substitute nuts for sultanas or more biscuit & marshmallow.

SGertie · 22/11/2010 08:01

The Express version of rocky road doesn't have nuts in it. Just biscuits and marshmallows. Let me know if you need the recipe.

LIZS · 22/11/2010 08:04

Found it on BBC Food website now , thanks for all ideas :)

jemw · 22/11/2010 11:28

re rocky road, I have also done it with turkish delight in instead of nuts....

LIZS · 25/11/2010 18:17

ok it is in the fridge now. Will it be solid enough to cut easily if left there overnight ? Didn't have the right sized tin so how large are the slices normally - 4cm square ?

Success ! It cut beautifully with a knife dipped in hot water . Thanks everyone. :)
