dd is nearly 2 and drinks (cows milk)
5 floz milk on waking
5 floz at lunchtime before nap
5 floz before going to bed and
most days about 3-4 floz in the morning if we are at home.
Is this too much milk?
She rarely eats lunch as she is asleep so has snacks during the morning and afternoon, then eats a big dinner at 5pm.

My DS is 22 months and has about 5oz milk on waking and then about 7oz before going to bed, and some days a fruit smoothie drink. If your DD is eating well at other meal/snacktimes I don't think this much milk is a problem.

Could you replace the morning milk with a snack and give her water to drink instead?

Unless it's making her constipated I think you're ok - although I'm no expert!

Hi, does she eat a good breakfast ?

If you are concerned, you could give breakfast first with some diluted juice & then some fruit & then offer her a small amount of milk. For lunch don't offer the milk at. In the evening wait for an hour after her tea before she has her milk. Also having a good breakfast might help avoid the snacks?

My DD (27mths) has breakfast, normally porridge & some fruit & diluted juice, about 8am, lunch at 12 (sandwich + fruit) then after her nap she has milk ( I top it up with boiled water to try & get as much water in her as poss) then she has tea at 5 pm, followed by about 6-8 oz before bed.

Probably half the amount your DD is on. I'm not sure what the guidelines are, but I perfer DD to not drink too much milk. HTH ?

I do sometimes water the milk down (esp. the mid morning one). I have tried not giving it to her, but she just cries and asks for "milkies"..
It doesn't seem to make her constipated - she does drink quite a bit of water anyway as well.
I think it's more of a comfort - she likes to suck and esp. at the moment as her big teeth are coming through at the back.

Then don't worry - she seems happy enough - I'm sure there are lots of mums who wish their children did drink milk - sounds like you could do with shares in a cow though - have you got room for one of your own?
