chutney that doesn't need more than 4 weeks to mature?

Hi,

I'm thinking of giving my little boy's nursery nurses some homemade chutney as a Xmas present. I have never made chutney though (although I make plenty of jam). Do you have any good recipe considering it needs to mature by Christmas?

Alternatively, any ideas for edible pressies that will fit my lovely 0.5 litre preserve jars?

I make pink grapefruit marmalade every year as Christmas presents, its ideal because pink garpefruit unlike seville oranges are available year round.

Most chutneys are better after at least a month, but if you are giving as Christmas presents then if you can make it in the next week, they will be fine for giving with a beautiful tag on stating when they are best to be eaten from.

I've got an apple and tomato chutney recipe that I was eating from the moment it was made and it was still nice? Happy to stick it on here if you like? I also recently made Apple and Rosehip jelly which has gone down well wherever it's been distributed, that came from the cottage smallholder website which is a great site if you don't know it alread?

Oh, that sounds nice JRsandcoffee, will check the website you suggest as I don't know it.
