Store bought chicken gravy for Xmas emergencies?

Can anyone recommend a supermarket (or otherwise) ready made gravy just in case my Xmas one is a disaster?

This has happened in the past (too much wine! both in the gravy and me). I would like to avoid this but just in case, is there anything out there worth buying?
Have tried M&S and Waitrose and thought both were a bit blahhhh.

lidl?

I seem to remember a review that really rated the sainsbury's taste the difference one, but I've never tried it and have a very unreliable memory.

M&S - had the chicken one tonight and it was delicious!

I was going to Sainsbo's tomorrow for Xmas stuff. Brilliant I will try theirs as I don;t have a Lidl near me.
I thought the M&S one was really tasteless. DH said it was OK but I like lots of spice, heat and salt which has prob destroyed the tastebuds to some extent.

How about making a REAL one next time you eat chicken (just boil up bones for stock) etc. And FREEZE it for chris. much nicer than the chemical mixes from the shops.

Having just bought four giant chickens half price from M&S I think you have an idea there!

I'm still going to try the others out of curiosity as there must be a decent one somewhere!

The best gravy I made was from the M&S rotisserie chicken juices and virtually nothing else but flour.

morag i used to occasionally buy the best organic stock cubes for gravy they're still SOO salty and with hydrogenated fats or palm oil. If you make a rich onion soup and liquidise it, it makes brill gravy.

M & S gravies in the pouches are lovely, you find them in the fridge.

Interesting ppeatfruit. Though will have to omit the stock from my soupShock which I've never done.

You just boil up the chicken carcase or whatever with a few veg. For flavour i don't cover the bones completely with water, simmer for 1hr or so.

Then add as stock with the wine to yr. onion soup simple!
