Can you get a healthy takeaway?

I have gone completely off cooking at the moment and we seem to be having quite a few takeaways. I just wondered if you can get healthy takeaways from anywhere, just because I don't want to make anything, it doesn't mean I want indian, chinese, chips or pizza all the time.

Assuming there are no healthy takeaways, whats the best one to go for if I don't want my clothes to get any tighter?

TIA

lebanese. quite a few great takeaways in london, bit tricky to find elsewhere. good healthy mediterranean stuff - lots of pulses, vegetables, grilled meats, olive oil....

I think Indian is probably the worst in terms of high fat. You can eat Chinese fairly healthily if you order well...

Indian ok if you have Chicken Tikka or something dry.

Chinese, Char Sui is good and low fat. Also veggie stir frys.

Pizza, you can always get one with no cheese and seafood (they never put cheese with seafood in Italy apparantly)

In london you can get virtually all types of food delivered, eg Deliverance do salads etc.
Where do you live?

I'm in Kent.

I've got nothing much in the cupboards so I'm going to have to make a decision soon. Can't face Tescos with 3 kids in tow.

Thai?

Moomin · 15/08/2003 16:17

Chinese chop sueys and veg/chicken/fish dishes based in light sauces (e.g. oyster / ginger & spring onion etc). I'm doing weight watchers and I've noticed chow meins have fewer than the rice dishes. The soups are always a good bet too.
Indians - the tikkas, like SamboM mentioned, plus some do the barbeque-type chicken stuff which is also quite dry. If you go for something in a sauce, go for tomato-based ones, like bhuna.
Thai can be pretty fattening with all that coconut milk and a lot of stuff is fried. Fresh fish dishes without much sauce are good though.
God, it's making my mouth water.........(slather)

Thought of another "healthy" takeaway when I was tucking into my huge greasy slices of pizza tonight (sorry ww!). What about kebab houses. A lot deliver these days and there are lots of nice options (if you avoid the processed meat off the spit in the window that always looks like a human torso to me...)

morocco · 15/08/2003 22:50

can't stand the place myself but if you could bring yourself to go there Mc Do's do salads these days. A bit too healthy for a takeaway perhaps though?

WideWebWitch · 15/08/2003 22:55

Was interested to find out what happened to spudulike too. Seems they're still around, store locator here

willow2 · 16/08/2003 19:02

What about lebanese or turkish - lots of healthy salads and grilled meat?

oscarsmum · 16/08/2003 20:10

Nando's for grilled chicken, if there's one near you as they don't deliver.

bunny2 · 16/08/2003 20:57

WWW, I am cheered to find Spudulike still exist. dont know why they arent expanding in these health-conscious times we live in. After all, people are moving away from MAc Ds so where are they going?
