do they work?

i want to have dead crispy skins and fluffy insides.....but worry that they would be all soft and crap.

has anyone tried it?

I would never have thought of doing that. It's the oven every time for me. Roll them in some spray oil and some salt. Yummy!

Furball · 24/10/2010 10:41

wouldn't of thought they'd be crispy as you have to have a small amount of liquid to cook which would cause the skins to be soggy

i tried it once - ok if your only way of cooking them, but much better to microwave and then crisp in oven for 30 mins.

scareistheball · 25/10/2010 13:25

This is my only way of cooking them. Had no idea it was possible. How, please? Do they need liquid? What do you rest them on?

how are you going to get crispy skins in a slow cooker?

you need an oven for that

dreamingofsun · 25/10/2010 15:22

pricked them and put them in cooker for the day. think they were bit wet, which gave them some moisture to cook in - sort of teaspoon of water. just put them in the slow cooker pot. from what i remember - sorry while back and i only did it once.

Seona1973 · 25/10/2010 15:44

from googling you can wrap them in foil before adding them to the slow cooker or rub them with oil. You dont need to add any extra water either.

I have done them once and they just dont work. They were qhite horrid and the brownness of the skins seemed to seep into the white of the potato. No crispiness whatsoever. Much better cooked by another method.

Thanks everyone. Will stick to the oven then.
