Dessert suggestions please

Having around 8-10 adults for dinner. Main course will be a medium curry. So looking for a choice of TWO desserts to offer. One being something citrus based and another that looks great but is still relatively / moderately easy to make.

Any ideas please?

and THANKS!

I rate lemon posset with some blueberries and shortbread type biscuits on the side. Lemon posset is simple and can be done in advance and I always find it really refreshing after a curry.

As for the other. You can make a very simple banana and butterscoth Mille feuille using bought puff pastry which you stamp into circles and bake. Then layer the pastry as individual portions with sliced banana, whipped cream and butterscotch sauce (made with sugar, butter and cream). Dust with icing sugar. Looks dead fancy and is really tasty too.

Any good?

Lady: Yes thanks for the Lemon Posset - will go and investigate. BUT am in awe of your banana and butterscotch suggestion - sounds very complicated. Will check it out though.

Was thinking this morning that two of the guests are real chocoholics. Any suggestions for a chocolate (very easy make ahead sort) desserts?

How about a choc orange cheesecake? Its fab! Its just double cream, sugar, cream cheese, choc digestives, butter and a bar of Green & Blacks dark choc with orange oil. Can give you a recipe if you like.

Lemon Posset is great, and is off the scale as far as calories are concerned. Slightly lower on the calorie count (but not much) is Tarte Tatin, which is great for British agriculture as British Apples are in season.

Ma Id love that recipe if you have it please?

OP- nigella's melting middle chocolate puddings? I haven't tried them but they always get recommended on here.

Tiramisu? Easily assembled and better done in advance.

Chocolate brownies to serve warm with vanilla ice cream?

Nigella's girdlebuster pie is basically a biscuit base with ice cream and a sauce on top. Looks impressive and sits in the freezer until needed.

Delia does a chocolate/cherry swiss roll thing which is easier than it looks. Just a fatless sponge mix. top with cream, chocolately stuff and cherries and roll up. Dust with icing sugar to hide any wonky bits.

Oooh THANKS for the chocolate orange cheesecake idea - PLEASE could I have the recipe. Sounds like an easy quick-fix that will go down perfectly.

Have seen the Nigella's melting middle choc puds but not really confident that my skills would stretch to that.
