Kitchen Aid mixer vs Magimix

Ok, not sure which topic to put this in but I'm sure I need a Kitchen Aid mixer but have already got a Magimix food processor. What can the mixer do that the processor can't?

I have both.

The magimix is great for chopping and slicing.

The kitchenaid is amazing, absolutely amazing at whisking egg whites, beating cream and making cakes and doughs.

Two completely different machines for different uses IMO. I have to admit that if I could have only one it would be the kitchenaid. Most of the things I use the magimix for I could just as easily do by hand. Is a faff chopping large quantities of onions, but I could do it and the magimix doesn't necessarily do it better (though is much faster and more convenient).

I have both.

Kitchenaid for bread, cakes and biscuits.

Magimix I use less often, for coleslaw, curry pastes, blitzing soup, that kind of thing.

I love my kitchenaid, it's such a pleasure to use. I could live without the magimix but not the kitchenaidBlush

See that's the thing, I don't use the magimix very often, I prefer a wooden spoon for mixing stuff. The way the stuff gets flung up and stuck under the lid just annoys me but it does mix so I keep telling myself that a kitchenaid is pointless but I still want one

Kitchenaid pointless ShockGrin

I love mine and wouldn't be without it. But since they're nigh on indestructible I can't see myself having to be.

Whereas my magimix is now on it's second lid thing (the first cracked and used to slip round which meant the power would cut to the blade). And I'd never do cakes or biscuit batters in the magimix. Actually, has been sitting in a cupboard unused for ages so might actually get rid of it at some point. Have a handheld braun mixer thingy which chops and blends (albeit small quantities) just as well.

Magimix has a whisk attachment and a dough blade. So Kitchen Aid is superfluous. Pooka, did you return it when it broke? Their product guarantee is supposedly incredible (disclaimer: family member works for them!).

TheGashlycrumbTinies · 19/10/2010 17:58

I have both, tend to use the Kitchen Aid most.

pooka · 19/10/2010 18:02

I've not found the whisk attachment on the magimix to be much cop in comparison to the KA.

No toddlerama didn't return it. To be fair, have had it quite a long while, but it still doesn't feel as bullet (or idiot) proof as the KA.

Agree with other posters - I have both, and also the mincer and slicer attachments for the KA.

While I make terrine in the Magimix, I mince meat for sausages, meatballs etc in the KA.

Defo have both.

I suppose it's one of those things that once you've got it you can't remember not having one. Now just to decide whether to nag hint at DH about cosy boots or a KitchenAid. Thank you!
