Kids / the heat / no appetite

Anyone else's kids just not really eating at the moment?
My DD is 19 months old and breakfast is the same at the mo, but lunch - we're lucky if she has 3 or 4 mouthfulls. She's just not interested. Tea - we might get a few more mouthfulls than lunch but again, no real appetite. I know none of us feel like eating huge amounts when it's so hot but just want to check that others kids are feeling much the same as Lottie.
She's such a little thing anyway I'm getting just a teeny bit concerned that she'll start to loose too much weight. I've worked so hard at building her up as much as I can without giving her cakes and biscuits etc.
What are you giving your kids to eat in this heat?
Lottie's lunch today is a sandwich, some bits of cheddar cheese and tomato & basil breadsticks, and bits of cucumber and then some fresh melon and a yoghurt. Tea is a chicken and mushroom pie with fresh asparagus, baby sweetcorn, carrots and green beans and then she'll be offered the rest of the melon. She's drinking water for England but just don't know what I can do to tempt her to eat at the moment. Any suggestions?

Thomcat, I don't have any suggestions I'm afraid. But it may reassure you to hear that my ds (16 mo)is exactly the same at the moment. We're lucky if he has 2 mouthfulls at any meal time. I'm just giving him nibbly things throughout the day like lots of fresh fruit, cheese, breadsticks and rice cakes. He also eats peas and will eat a bowlful as a snack.

my ds2 (2 years) has also been off his food. But likes a snack he can take into the garden and eat in his tent (ELC cube pop up thing).
Bowl of dry shreddies or cheese dippy thing with breadsticks are faves.

TC my 2 are the same. They just seem to be snacking alot and drinking loads of milk.

I've taken to freezing wedges of water melon and getting them out instead of icelollies. I felt guilty about all that sugar. I could have made my own but the watermelon seems to be doing the trick for now.

The other thing I do is give them (dd & ds) a bowl of frozen peas to sit on the back door step with and nibble at. They look sooo cute sat together, I think that I've taken atleast 8 photos of them doing this already. It's one of the only times that they sit near each other without pushing and pulling at each other.

Thomcat my ds 19mths is the same, you can't force them to eat so as long as they're getting plenty of fluids I wouldn't worry too much ,I'm sure her appetite will return soon.

Oh that's great girls - thanks - just needed a bit of reassurance that it's not just her, I didn't think so but that's what Mumsnet is for aye, puting our minds to rest over a whole range of issues.
Thanks a lot, xx
