Sorry if we've already done this, but is it worth a watch? Have all last week on sky plus to watch at a "convenient moment" (whenever that is!) and just wondered what people thought?

Thanks.

So, what is it about the pregnant Jools pasta that all of you seem to be making (instead of other dishes)? Grin Is it about the 'pregnant' thing that strikes a chord, or does the recipe somehow stand out (it didn't really for me- I have the book).

Has this been mentioned but why do all the 30 minute meals have pudding? Most people don't eat pudding nightly, unless its a special occasion/weekend, and I guess thats not what this show is about.

Is it to give him something to do whilst the main meal cooks? I think he'd be better placed dealing with the massive pile up of washing up.

i have watched them too, have yet to try any of the recipes ........ is the pasta good?

taffeta we dont have pudding either, agree its to keep him busy!

well actually some of the 'puddings' are really serving suggestions of something for after dinner, and involve lots of fruit etc (in that way remind me of Nigel Slater's 30 min dessert book which is fabulous). I think it's not a bad idea, after all perhaps 1-2 people at a dinner table may want to have dessert as well, and anyone else can skip. Or you can skip dessert altogether.

Shock that the food took you so long to make

Biwi - there wasn't room in the dishwasher with all the other pots and pans I used!

Maria - I chose it because I had some sausages to use up. Plus it looked (and was) really easy.

Maria2007loveshersleep · 29/10/2010 21:20

Had the same problem, my kitchen looked as if a tornado had hit it after I finished preparing the meal!

BecauseImWorthIt · 29/10/2010 23:15

But don't you usually have lot of pots and pans to wash up? What are you normally cooking that doesn't make such washing up?

As well as a full dishwasher, I always have at least 2-3 pans and sometimes oven trays to wash - things that don't go/can't fit into the dishwasher.

So no change for me, really.

ProfYaffle · 29/10/2010 23:40

Confused I had a normal amount of pots of pans (which fit in the dishwasher) plus the food processor (which I don't normally use) ergo I had extra washing up.

Most nights I may have 1 or 2 items that aren't dishwasher safe but, no, I don't/won't wash up extra tins etc

Next time I'm going to split the sausage skins and tip the meat directly into the pan, grate the veg and add it. Might take 5 mins extra but the box grater will fit into the dishwasher and save washing up time.

I wish we had a dishwasher. I don't like washing up the f.p. either. Nevertheless I'm glad to be encouraged to use it more, as it is a useful thing to own and I hate having stuff sitting about that I don't get the most out of.

Really liked the pasta -- more than I expected to actually. And for me, yes, I chose it because it looked easy and quick and had good reports from others on the thread (I didn't make the rest of the meal either).

Not all of the meals in the book include desserts.
