What do you put in your child's packed lunch that doesn't contain salt?

Smith's crisps but put a match to the blue bag of salt...

Well everything seems to. Is that okay though? I really don't know.

Dd typically has

Snack: Philly dip (salt) with chopped veg and breadsticks (salt).

Lunch: Sandwich (salt) with chopped fruit, cheese (salt) and an oatcake (salt) or small flapjack (salt).

Sometimes she has a pot of rice or pasta, but often there is a bit of salt in that too.

Is that okay?

I rarely feel confident that I have struck the balance between healthy and not nutritious enough.

tin foil

But you can make the flapjacks so they dont and choose lower salt version of the breadsticks and oatcakes and in fact bread.

A little salt is fine. You just don't want to give extra salty snacks.

Today DD's lunchbox had:

  • A tupperware put of hummous and some carrot and cucumber sticks to dip in it
  • A thermos of homemade tomato soup
  • Pitta bread with yesterday's chicken leftovers in it
  • An apple
