limited variation on meals

my 2 dd's 4 and nearly 2 won't try anything new, and have various meals that they eat in rotation

  • jacket pot. with beans and cheese
  • jacket pot. with tuna/mayo and sweetcorn
  • potato waffles (BAD MUM ALERT!!!) with either fish fingers or linda mc. sausages, peas and broccoli or corn on the cob
  • pasta with cheese sauce and broccoli
  • scrambled egg and baked beans on toast

They both eat stoneground wholemeal bread and have healthy lunches of stuff like pitta bread and hummous, cherry tomatoes, cheese sandwhiches, yoghurt etc..

The eldest eats plenty of fruit, but my youngest won't touch fruit (she'll eat raisins!), they both love their veg.

Is their diet okay - even though it isn't that varied?? I have tried introducing new foods, but got fed up of cooking new things and then throwing them away...
Some people tell me that children become less fussy as they get older?? I hope so!

i think it is worth introducing new things every now and again... it can take them a while to get a taste for them

their diet sounds pretty healthy overall though, so wouldn't worry about that!

do you all eat together? if so then offer them a bit of what you're having now and then.. that way you aren't making entire meals for them that get thrown aawy, but they get the opportunity to try new things

witht hings like new vvegetables, it's easy to just cook a tiny amount and get them to have at least ONE mouthful before deciding they don't like it!!!

SL - no, we rarely eat dinner together.

I always have lunch & breakfast with them, but dh has gone to work at bfast and not home in time for us to eat dinner together, we eat later when they are in bed

bagpussmice - are you me?
Sounfs like my DS1 - eats generally healthy stuff but extremely limited range. I do try to offer new things but at the moment I'm not as I got so stressed with him last week about it all, I'm giving myself a break.
Other people tell me the will grow out of it eventually so I'm just hanging in there.
You are not alone

glad I am not alone....
they did have pasta with tuna yesterday and quite liked that.

might try a smoothie - esp. if it is mainly milk as dd2 is a milk lover! good idea!
If you make it up the night before will it stay fresh in the fridge for the next day??
