Glass storage / cookware for freezing meals

Does anyone know of a UK equivalent (or source) of Pyrex No Leak storage containers?

I need to get organised ASAP and freeze some meals for me and DH and some for DS as well for when the new baby comes (any day now). What do you all use for batch freezing? I'd love the pyrex ones as I want to avoid plastic and like that I have the option of putting it into the microwave to defrost if needed. Also, those no leak lids are great and would be fab for taking lunch to work (one day).

Any suggestions?

Amazon (and probably others?) do Pyrex dishes with lids - www.amazon.co.uk/Pyrex-Classic-Glass-Litre-Round/dp/B000KGCO2G/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1287176684&sr=8-7 I think the lids might be plastic but you don't need to put them on until they're ready to go in the freezer, and you could replace the lids with something else when they go in the microwave? I got a brilliant pyrex dish with plastic lid from Co-op - its fantastic, perfect size for lasagne, macaroni cheese, cottage pie etc. I think it was about £4.50. Have also seen them in Sainsburys, Dunelm and possibly The Range. Planning on getting a few more ready for freezer!!

My mum always saves icecream tubs which are great, I dont see a problem with plastic???? I defrost in morning and reheat in a big pyrex. or if lazy reheat in the plastic - never had a problem do this.

Any quality tuperware is good too always a fab investment, once again very good leak proof and heatable.

You know, it depends on yr budget but really why go out and buy endless expensive glass dishes. Wilkinson/asda seem to sell cheaper than the fancy cook shops.

Keen to avoid plastics because of BPAs and also because I want to freeze things like lasagne or cottage pie which I would put into the oven straight from the freezer (perhaps via the microwave). Also, we've just moved so I got rid of almost all of my old take out containers and ice cream tubs.

Good point about checking the supermarkets and wilkinsons though - I always forget that online isn't always the cheapest!

My cookbook has a good idea. Line your baking dish with foil, prepare dish and pop it in the freezer. Wrap and freeze.

Then when frozen remove from the dish. Means you get to reuse cooking dishes as much as you need.

When you need to cook it you can then put it back in the same dish to go in the oven.

I know you've said you want to microwave. I've used this method for pasta sauce and I just peel all the foil off to microwave.

or the flat dishes and cover with clingfilm

You can get rectangular pyrex dishes with plastic lids from John Lewis or Lakeland.

cluckycook =- do you know how many portions of lasagne say would fit in that one? I'm not very good at guestimating!

The trouble with the Pyrex dishes without handles is they're very slippery when wet. I've dropped and smashed a couple so have given up on them and gone back to the usual Pyrex dishes with cling film when needed.
