Hello

The HV and I think that ds2 has a problem with Dairy or Lactose. (what is the difference please?)

He is 11m and breast fed. He has had the odd bits of cheese and dairylea type cheese in the past and seemed ok. But the few times he's had yoghurts (maybe 4 in his life since 6m) he's been very sick in the night.
A couple of weeks ago he started having wheetabix for breakfast with cows milk on. I was quite pleased as he'd not eaten anything much atall for breakfast before. Apart from little bits of toast or crumpets or dry cereal etc.

But his nappies went very wet and watery. Like sprout water. Yellow or green. Very leaky and with no substance to them.
Plus he went off all other foods. Had no appetite. I thought it could be teeth as that might explain the nappies and lack of eating.
He lost about a pound in weight in a month.

Anyway since friday he has had no dairy. And his poos are brown again and he has started eating meals!

Is this all a coincidence?

Ds1 (7 years) has never been very into dairy products and has trouble with his poos too. (can be explosive)

tia

Me again :( Am a bit confused tbh.
ds2 hasn't had dairy (not checked the ingredients in packets religiosly(sp), but pretty much no diary) for over a week.
His poos look more normal and are browner and more solid.
But he is not eating very much again :( Could be teeth...

Anyway yesterday we tried him with a soya yoghurt. Not because I'm desperate for him to eat yoghurt but beacause I'd quite like him to eat something. He ate a few spoonfuls but then didn't want any more. Then he gagged all evening and threw it all up at about 1 am :(

Can't think of anything to feed him. He's doing blw but has hardly eaten anything to note for weeks so yesterday I tried an Ellas Kitchen pouch..total opposite approach from before but I am getting worried. He didn't really want that either :(

It is common for children to have a problem with dairy and soya so maybe its that Sad

My DD now 2.8 is severely intolerant to dairy, soya & oats....

The main problem is finding a bread that doesn't have soya in

TBH I would go back to GP and get a referral to see a dietician....

Forgot to add I took him to the GP's this week. He said I need to give him dairy again to get the reaction again to make sure it's def that causing the problems.

Does that make sence?

How many times has he had dairy and reacted??

I have to say my GP was very good and just took my word for it and referred us.

DD was 8mths at the time and as with you the main culprit was yogurt which made her very constipated...

He's had yoghurt about 5 times and every time has been very sick.

The milk on the wheetabix was everyday for about 2 weeks and that's when the nappies changed. And that's when we also weighed him and found out about the weight loss.

He had a soya yoghurt on friday and reacted the same. Was very flemmy, trying to be sick , gagging all evening , then sick about 5 hours later. :(

He is really hardly eating anything atm :(

Was sick twice last night. That was due to coughing. I racked my brains and I don't think he had had any dairy.

I am confused!

Dairy can be hidden in quite a lot of things tbh.

Soya is in bread, most biscuits etc....

Good luck with this it can be horrid I know Sad

TBH I would be inclined to "fib" to GP and say you have put him on dairy again iyswim...
