Does anyone know if there is a modern version?

I think these are very middle-aged and I'm fighting it, but I can see the logic behind them.

Does anybody use anything that is a bit more socially acceptable?

SEA nobody is making you have one, don't panic! Grin

ChaosTrulyReigns · 30/09/2010 23:30

sea, the flies will boak on your food, you know.

It's not desirable. Wink

Sorry Olivia, that fails because of my cherry aversion! Grin

Hmmm, we're getting closer with red gigham and dots, but there's nothing there making me rush for my geddit card.

You could just use foil - or clingfilm - or a clean tea towel....

ChaosTrulyReigns · 30/09/2010 23:39

D'you know, that's my current level of wild insect protection.

I have a set of muslins just for that purpose, but my DM thinks I need made for purpose stuff! Wink I'm just trying to head her off at the pass, as she will so go down the Hyacinth B route.

I have one like the circular one - given to me, I think the giver found it in TKMaxx?

Actually very useful! Blush

I've got two of the boring versions and during the summer they were invaluable. I live in the countryside and the cows/horses/sheep attract a humungous level of flies. Couldn't justify paying loads of money for them though, even if they are pretty.

taffetacat · 01/10/2010 13:10

I have some poncey ones my DM gave me but I always forget I have them and end up using a tea towel.

It reminds me of cling filming the cricket teas with my friend a few years ago. There were about 20 plates of yummy stuff all needing covering. No fiddling around with individual plates, we clingfilmed the entire table. The old cricket wives' catsbummouths were a sight to behold. Grin

I am very SORRY I was WRONG and these food covers a la Great Aunt Norah are a FANTASTIC idea.

I don't really want to shoot myself.

I am going to buy three lacey covers and make some pineapple and cheese on sticks and stick them in a foil covered potato and display lovingly on my dining room table, covered in said cover.

Chaos - they might be boring and middleaged but they are bloody useful and I have one somewhere. A super large one - no point buying little ones, go the whole hog. Grin

Can't remember where mine came from, might even have been Tesco - or Kleeneze or somesuch place. Wasn't Lakeland, I do know that.

ChaosTrulyReigns · 01/10/2010 21:48

Thank you thumb, I shall keep searching for something that fits my fussy criteria.
