Not Oakham! Hmm

Supermarkets are horrible convenient places! Sad

I always see it in M&S and wonder what it's about.

Is Oakham a giant processing plant Hmm.

It is a marketing master-stroke - a great way to part the poor consumer with some hard earned cash believing they are buying a superior product ... If the label is to be believed, it would be somewhere in Norfolk,

LauraNorder · 29/09/2010 21:24

It's a trade mark apparently. All designed to deceive the consumer. Even the chicken from the butcher in Oakham doesn't come from Oakham!

saw that program too - was good, but alot was a bit pointless imo - I mean, bread goes mouldy if left long enough - wow, newsflash!!

Itsjustafleshwound · 29/09/2010 21:26

If you are talking about the programme on C4 - the sticker on the plastic covering the chicken had Norfolk as Origin .... Oakham is actually in Rutland

Meglet · 29/09/2010 21:26

Just googled it. Very very naughty M&S Angry.

I don't buy it though, I just bankrupt us on the odd organic chicken from sainsburys once a month .

LauraNorder · 29/09/2010 21:30

I see, was thinking Oakham was in Rutland, got all confused for a moment Grin

I am thinking of using the local abattoir to source my meat - would mean meal planning though, must get organised!

Trouble is the supermarkets have such good offers on their meat - it would be more expensive going to the abattoir or local butchers surely?

OMG - now i find out most cheddar is imported! I really thought cheddar was a British thing (unless I intentionally bought Canadian cheddar). And there was me thinking I was Mrs Savvy Shopper Hmm Blush
