Ideas for a healthy packed lunch?

My DC's school are tomorrow having a healthy eating day where healthy food is rewarded with prizes. Normally, I will give them a sandwich of something on wholemeal bread, a small chocolate/cereal bar, a packet of crisps, a piece of fruit and a bottle of water. Yes ok maybe not the healthiest of lunches but its very rare they have junk outside of school and apart from Friday I always cook from scratch for them.

(ok! Done defending myself Grin)

So I'm after some healthy options for lunchboxes. I was thinking maybe some carrot sticks even though they don't really like raw carrot i'm sure if they would have no problem eating them if a prize is in the offering! Maybe wholemeal pitta with some sort of filling? Then I go blank :(

Any suggestions gratefully recieved! :)

In truth, besides the choc bar and crisps, the lunch sounds really healthy. How about just switching the choc and crisps for something like:

  1. raisens
  2. piece of fruit (banana, apple, pear, satsuma) or chopped melon or grapes etc in a small tuppleware tub
  3. olives
  4. breadsticks with some sort of healthy dip (my friends swear by humous, but I lothe it)

Just some thoughts x

Thanks! The fruit they have anyway, I did put the little boxes of raisins in for them before but they all moaned they didn't like them, the same with olives, The breadsticks seem good but how would you put a dip in their lunchboxes without it going everywhere?

I kept my daughter's purple Tommee Tippee tubs from when she was being weaned and they're a great size for dips. Do yuo have anything like this? Otherwise, how about an empty yoghurt pot with some cling film and tape? That's a thought - most yoghurts are healthy...

Also, I often give my daughter some chopped cucumber and cherry tomatoes in a small tupplewear tub. That's another healthy one
