If your DC have their main meal at 4pm do they have anything else before they go to bed?

We eat our main meal anytime from 6.30 onwards, usually ends up being 7-ish.
However as I have teenagers they claim to be hungry again an hour later and raid the cupboard for cereal, toast or (oh the shame!) Supernoodles.

At the weekend he goes at about 9:30.

I'm a big believer in eating when you're hungry, so it makes sense to me for kids to have tea instead of snacks at 4.30pm.

Do whatever suits your family! Smile

My DS1 has just started school and we are tending to have tea sometime between 4 and 5 with milk and a cookie at 7pm bedtime.

TBh if I had a child that wanted to eat early but then went to bed late I would give them either toast or a banana before bed to fill them up Smile

Bunny, DD usually gets up at around 7am after going to bed at 6pm.

Snack at 4-4:30pm, then dinner all together between 7-7:30pm bed after 8pm.

I am amazed at anyone putting childrent o bed at 6:30. DD3 had just started dance class (4yrs old) and doesn't even finish until 6:30pm.

When the boys were in reception our after school routine was:
3.45 pm - quick drink and snack
4.00 - bath to wake them up/stimulate them
4.30 - tea
5.00 - PJs on, clean teeth
5.15 - reading/stories
5.40 - bed

They were always fast asleep by 6pm and would sleep through for 12-13 hours.

Mine used to eat at 4pm but now they are a little bit older I do tea for them for 5 and they have a snack when they come out of school and my eldest sometimes has something else before he goes to bed. The other 2 don't ask for anything.

We eat between 4-4.30pm and they go to bed betwen 7.30-8pm. They have cocoa before bed. They are 1,4 and 6.

domesticsluttery · 25/09/2010 17:19

Yes, when mine went to bed at 6pm they would all sleep through until 7am.

DD is 4 and still needs 11-12hrs sleep. DS2 is 6 and needs 11hrs, and DS1 is 8 and needs 10-11 hrs.

It isn't actually as much fun as it sounds as they want to do after school activities and need to do homework, piano practice etc so it is very hard to fit it all in before bedtime!

roisin How long did that routine last for, did it change by year 1?
