Seriously fussy dcs

Bit of a food related rant. Ds is 12, dd1 is 9 and they are both so fussy. If asked all she ever wants is chips and fish (but not fresh fish - basically greasy chip shop fish). All ds wants is pizza. If pushed they'll branch out to sausages and beans. I know we've made mistakes along the way. Ds went on frequent hunger strikes when he didn't get his way from toddler days on. Feeding my dcs is a bit of an emotional issue for me so I used to give him whatever he wanted rather than let him eat nothing. Also for a period of 4 years dh was very ill and spent prolonged periods in hospital so I just went with the line of least resistance. And then this past year I've been pg with hyperemesis so dh was doing all the shopping and cooking for them as I was eating whatever would stay down - mostly chicken burgers or macaroni cheese. Not my usual tastes.
Dd2 is now 4 months and I really want to avoid similar food issues. Dh and I are on a health and economy drive and have been cooking from scratch every day. Slow cooker casseroles, lasagne, moussaka etc. Including recipes from mn that are big hits with other posters' kids. Not mine. They know we're not going back to old habits and they aren't given anything else if they don't eat their dinner. I'm hoping to do baby led weaning with dd2 and hoped seeing us all sitting eating together as well as watching me and dh prepare food would get her interested in good food from the start but I fear she'll be a pain to feed just like her siblings.

Any advice?

She will be fine. Offer her a varied and interesting diet from a young age, and you can't go much wrong. Of course she'll become fussy as she gets older, just don't give into it as you know the problems it has brought you with the older DC's. Convenience food definitely isn't convenient when you have a screaming child wasting perfectly nice food because it isn't a frozen pizza is it? :)

Good luck with the new lifestyle, they'll get the hang of it sooner or later!

Praps you could get yr. older DCs cooking their own pizzas and fish (after all they can be healthy). IMO DCs have tastes as we all do,and I wouldn't want to be MADE to eat something.
