Big batch of crumble to make

.. have glut of apples that I am going to store for use over the winter. Apple sauce and crumble fillings are the main use.

Is it possible to make a big batch of crumble topping without a food processor? I have a hand held blender only which is fine for small quantities, but not sure if it will do the job on a huge bowl full?? Want masses to freeze for quick puds and it's a faff to keep having to make the topping each time.

Any tips very gratefully received... thanks.

How big is the batch? Could you make it sitting down listening to a play or something, so that it made the time go quickly?

Another alternative to all the rubbing in, might be to chill the butter in the freezer for a while and then grate it into the flout using the large side of a box grater.

Otherwise the only thing I could suggest would to be do it in batches of about 350g/12oz flour at a time.

Good luck!

OO, tb, the frozen butter idea is a good one... that could be seriously labour saving!

Don't know how big the batch is yet, but simply want to be able to do a job lot to have say, 6 crumble toppings ready to go...

Did grating the butter work? I've read it, but never tried it myself, tbh.

I haven't tried it yet!! I got a foul cold this week and as such home baking kind of slipped down the list...

Might give it a go today though, have a trial, so going to put the butter in the freezer now, and see what happens. Will report back!
