baking tin dilema

Hi everyone,

I'm baking a castle cake for my daughters birthday and basically the bottom cake is a square tin, second layer is round and third layer is small round. The square bottom tier has each corner cut off and has four small tall round turrets standing against it.
My question could I use a baked bean tin to make the turrets in?
I tend to make madeira cakes as they are a bit firmer for icing but have no idea how long it would take to bake the mixture in a baked bean tin and how high to put the mixture in the tin before I bake it?
There needs to be 4 turrets placed around the square cake.

If anyone can help, I would be very greatful.

Many thanks

Why not have a practice with a small amount of mixture?

I could do I suppose. I guess I was hoping someone might have already done something similar and that way it would save the hassle of making it.

Thanks though. If nothing else pops up. I will give it a try later today.

ould you buy 4 full sized swiss rolls instead? I'd do that. Put icing on and it will look fab.

You certainly can use bean tins for baking cakes(there are tons of Christmas cakes out there that use them) not sure about quantities though.
