Slow cookers - any advice?

That's it, really. Thinking of getting one but know very little about them other than there's lots of different ones in different shapes and sizes.

Any features that you've found to be particularly good or bad? Is a £80 one really that much better than a £20 one? If so, how?

thanks :)

I think they basically vary on size and features. Some of the more expensive ones have timers etc.
Personally I have a £10 one from Tesco and I love it.
I guess it is a smaller capacity that the more expensive ones, but still OK to get a whole chicken in. I also made a casserole in it the other day that would have fed 6 people.
I don't really see that a timer would be of that much use as you don't have to be that exact with timings of things.
The only ones I would avoid would be the small round ones as you won't fit a chicken or joint in due to the shape.
Hope that helps a bit. Happy cooking!

I have the tescos one too. Its my second one and is much better than the round one I had so agree OVAL is the way to go.

Buy a cheap one which will be prefectly fine and save your money IMO.

Great :) So 3.5Lish and oval. I'd thought oval might be more useable, but good to have it confirmed.

Now I just need to make space to put it before I go out and buy it...
