... especially one that a picky four year old and a one year old will eat? Or am I living in a bubble thinking they will even eat stir-fry?
Preferably with lots of garlic? Even better, one that I can add some spice/fresh ginger to for DH and I.

Sorry - I know I'm asking for a lot. I might even ask you to come round and make aeroplane noises to make the wee monsters eat it. Grin

My 2 yr old DD eats stir fry (OK, maybe not the bean sprouts).

  • onion, garlic, fresh ginger and low salt tamari soya sauce is the easiest. Can add chilli for the grown ups (also roasted cashew nuts)

  • Lime fresh coriander and ginger. Maybe sweet chilli sauce for the grown ups

  • oyster and soya sauce?

honey and soy sauce usually goes down well with children

stock, garlic, cornflour and soysauce is my storecupboard standby, sometimes add a bit of tomato puree.

I make this sweet & sour sauce and it always goes down well:

Serves 2 adults and 2 small children.

1 dessertspoon cornflour
2 fl oz white wine vinegar
3 fl oz water
2 0z sugar
1/4 tsp salt
1 small can pineapple rings (optional), cut into bite sized pieces.

Mix together cornflour, vinegar and water to make a smooth paste. Add sugar and salt and mix well. Pour over stir-fried ingredients. Add pineapple chunks (if using). Mix well, bring to boil and simmer gently until sauce turns light brown and ingredients are nicely caramelised.

Goes well with stir-fried strips of pork or chicken and vegetables.

Sorry I meant to say cook until thickened as well as light brown. Enjoy!

lime, soy sauce, sweet chilli sauce and honey, you could leave out the chilli for DC
