School Food Trust guidelines

I work for a soft drinks company.

On Sept 17th large parts of the soft drinks industry are meeting with the School Food Trust to discuss the guidelines for what can and cannot be included in soft drinks sold in schools. There is a Voluntary Code Of Practice currently.

How would parents feel if it was proposed that the guidelines were relaxed?

if by soft drinks you mean sugary, and or fizzy drinks, i would certainly object, very strongly.

i would be happy to start a campaign against such soft drinks in schools.

Me too.

And I think aspartame should be banned from childrens' drinks.

No relaxation.

Rather that the VCOP became obligatory.

Thanks all for the feedback so far.

My company makes fizzy drinks for schools that do comply with the VCOP so it is possible. There are a number of other companies who also produce fully compliant drinks.

We are happy with the current position, or a strengthening of the guidelines. Some companies want a relaxation of the rules so that they have something to sell, particularly coming out of recession.

It is interesting to see the depth of feeling. Thanks again.
