my Ds(6) never eats a breakfast(hot cross bun if pushed). i have told him that he must start eating before he goes back to school, because it is very important. but i can't force him.he is just not hungry. any advice please!

can you give him something to eat on the way to school - cereal bar or banana maybe?

brightstar1 · 03/09/2005 12:06

Would he eat a banana, or even just have a glass of milk?

Avalon · 03/09/2005 12:54

Cut down on his dinner/tea - give it earlier - so he is hungrier in the morning?

i have the same trouble with my dd shes 2 so i make smoothies i blend natural yoghurt, strawberries, mango and banana and ice together and serve it in a glass with a straw, serving in a wine glass (supervised of course) is always good cos they think they're being really grown up. Ive found its a brilliant way of getting good stuff into her fast!

you might find that he is starving first day at school and so eats brekkie the second day. ask his teacher if he can take something in for break time.

brightstar1 · 03/09/2005 20:25

has just started drinking milk, had dairy and egg intolerance when he was baby, think that put him off a lot of food for a long time. They do get fruit at school first break, which is a god send.but the teacher said he does seem very tired/distracted in the morning.he is a fussy eater but eats an excellent dinner.

brightstar1 - see my previous message. Don't you think that because he eats 'an excellent dinner', he doesn't feel like breakfast in the morning?

brightstar1 · 04/09/2005 20:37

could be avalon. but when i say excellent i should have said "for him that is", don't think i could give him less. and i still think he needs to have something before school, even tiny amount. also he is so skinny it is scary.although he has energy like you wouldn't believe

sorry, also boys eat about 5 so i would have thought that he would be starving in the morning, suppose what makes it worse is that other 2 Ds eat for England.
