Please recommend a big soup pot that doesn't burn anything resting at the bottom of the pot...

I have tried a few different soup pots and ALL the ones I have tried burn whatever is at the bottom of the pot unless you stir constantly.

MIL has old pots for soup/stewing that she got from her mum and they have the heavy, black base so she just chops everything up, adds the stock and leaves it to boil on the hob for an hour and nothing sticks burning at the base of the pot! Of course, you don't get these any more.

Oh and it has to be relatively inexpensive...

TIA :)

A good pan won't be cheap but will last forever, our stainless pans are from Stellar, 10 year guarantee as a wedding present but they are over 20 years old and still look good. They have a thick triple layer bottom and find OK. You could try Le Cueset style too - you pay for the quality you get. TK max can be a good place to get one off pans too if you don't want a new set.

IKEA also do a domed shape stainless pans - we have a couple of those for porridge and the like.

I use a mahoosive Le Creuset casserole pot for making soup. I don't make small quantities....

How about a slow cooker? I got a fairly basic, but large, one from Asda for £15 anf I love it! I made a huge batch of chicken broth this week in it. Very delicious it was too.

Le Crueset. Or anything cast iron which weighs more than your car (it will feel like that when you go to drain a full pan of spuds, anyway).

Expat was on here recommending an alternative cast iron French cookware range, which is the same as le Creuset, but cheaper. Can't remember the name of it. Sorry, that is not very helpful.

Yes! That's exactly what I need. A pot so heavy that it wobbles scarily when you transfer it to the sink for drainage ;) These are the ones!

I will have to sneakily buy one n hide the receipt from OH though...

Thank you all

I have one of cheap stockpot and never had a problem burning soup.

We use a fake le crueset (faux crueset we call it) from tesco, cost about a seventeen quid i think.

Also on the non sticking thing our best pan for things not to stick in is the wok. Cost about a tenner from the chinese supermarket. Steel and we have seasoned it. It's invincible.
