I would do crispie cakes but no chocolate either.

Got most other things.

Have you got ready made puff pastry? Cut into squares and make up toppings?

YunoYurbubson · 06/09/2010 09:01

Don't biscuit recipes usually have egg?

Oat biscuits -
2oz caster sugar,
4oz soft marg/butter,
4oz oats,
2oz plain flour

Heat oven to 160C. Cream the butter and sugar, add the oats and flour and work them in to the mixture. Lightly knead until smooth and roll to a thickness of 1/2 inch and cut into rounds.

Bake for 20mins.

My dd loves making these and occasionally even eats one!

Rice crispy cakes?

Cheese straws?

Vegan banana cake?

Thanks all. We have made a bizarre concoction of cuboard foragings which I have stuck together with butter and syrup and I hope will set in the fridge.

Oats and Dora The Explorer cereal and coconut and dried fruit and fairy sprinkles.

Hmm.

Scones

YunoYurbubson · 06/09/2010 09:34

Yes. Scones.

Now, about scones.

I have an exciting new recipe book which has lots of scone recipes in. All the recipes call for one or two TABLESPOONS of baking powder. I don't think it is a misprint.

That's not normal, is it.

The first batch I made tasted of baking powder funnily enough.

According to this, 4 teaspoons per 8 oz plain flour for scones.

MmeLindt · 06/09/2010 09:46

Yes. Tsp not tbsp. Urgh. They must have tasted very strongly of baking powder.

I started a thread years ago about scones and was given loads of great tips. It is all about the raising agent, so bung in some cream of tartar too. I can post the recipe I use if you would like it
