Bread-Making in breadmaker?

So I've bought a lovely shiny breadmaker and it looks lovely in my kitchen! My main reason was so I could have nice white bread at the touch of a button.

The recipes that come in the book seem to come out really salty! So my question is (as I know nothing of breadmaking) can I just reduce or omit the salt or does it serve another purpose other than flavour?? Confused

Or does anyone on here have a recipe that they use in their breadmaker which makes lovely white bread??

Please help me not turn my breadmaker into another gadget that gathers dust and ends up in the garage gadget graveyard!!

Ta!

Just reduce the salt. It's for taste - I do the same and it comes out fine!

When I make a small loaf I usually add around 1/4 teaspoon of salt (far less than in the recipe). Doesn't seem to affect the rise/quality of loaf, so just decrease the salt to the amount you are happy with.

I use about half the salt the recipes state, and have never had a problem. I cut down on the sugar as well.

Thanks!! I will try that. Wasn't sure if there was some rising 'qualities' in it.

This is why I use machines for things like this and wouldn't even attempt myself Wink
