Cheese - 13month old

Anyone know what is a reasonable amount of cheese for a 13 month old to eat. Our DS would eat cheese for all meals if left to own devices. He has some nearly every day and some times twice.

He is a good eater and has loads of fruit and veg and likes fish and chicken too.

I don't know of a reasonable amount but ds loves cheese too. He definitely eats it every day at one meal if not two. Sometimes it's just a sprinkling of Parmesan, sometimes it's mac and cheese. I think as long as you balance it out with other things it's fine. If I cut out cheese, it would be a battle at the table!

Thanks jabberwocky. This pm he ate nearly a whole punnet of blueberries his other favourite thing. DH had left them on a low table and I thought DS was just playing nicely!! Can't wait for the next nappy

my boy demolishes cheese too...always has done.i also wondered how much was tooo much early on but nnever came up with anything...so i just thought as long as he eats 'less than me',scientific ,i know .

the fact that he also eats a variety of other foods is prob good news.

you could look at Anabel karmels meal planner and see how often she puts cheese on the menu? for a less rough guide than the one i helpfully gave

actually thats prob rubbish advice..anabel karmel is a bit of a ...umm...'gold standard' kind of mum

From extra mature cheddar to gorgonzola, my kids eat tons and tons of cheese. We are a cheesy household I guess - always have a fully loaded cheeseboard out and glad to see ours tucking in. From around 12 months we let them try blue cheeses and the non pasteurised stuff - little at a time to check they were ok with it (my mum was horrified at this lol) As long as they are eating a balanced diet, not getting fat, not showing any signs of allergy, bad dreams at night etc don?t think it will harm them at all. My girls don?t like milk so I am happy they get their calcium through cheese and yoghurt so rarely limit them.

though she does recommend cheese as a healthy snack ..not badfor teeth.

she says use a biscuit cutter to make it more appealing ..like my ds needed encouraging?

Rejoice in the knowledge that you will be able to take him out to adult restaurants and just order the cheeseboard for him knowing he will be more than happy with that. Smile smugly when other mummies complain that their children will eat only chips ans pizza. Banish forever the horror that is 'children's menus' (pukeing emoticon)

Is it obvious I have a cheese monster also?

my dd is 10mo and will sometimes only eat cheese - it is my stand-by for when she refuses all other food.
Even when she has eaten loads (as she did today!) she will always have a piece of cheese at the end of her meal and will get really excited when I give it to her. I am going on the premise that rather that than her wanting chocolate all the time!

My dd1 is 2.5 and still eats loads of cheese like you describe. I think it is fine as it is not bad for teeth, full of calcium and little ones need lots of fat for energy and to grow. I hope I am not sadly misinformed.
