How do you all freeze brown?

Just that really. I've never really bothered to make large amounts of bolognese/chilli/stew etc to freeze but now baby is imminent I feel I need to have brown food floating around in the freezer all ready for DH to stick in the oven.

What I want to know is what receptacle do you find easiest/most practical to keep in the freezer, would I be best off going for food bags, those heat-sealed bag machine things you see on QVC or plastic tubs, or glass with plastic lids...? Is it easier to have stackable stuff, or squish bags inbetween other food in the drawers?

I think you might be overthinking it.

Tupperwear thingys from ikea/£ shop. Leave em to cool and bung 'em in the freezer. Remember to label them first though.

And my bolognaise is usually orange, btw Grin

Definitely over thinking!

Freezer bags, massive ones. fill them, fold the top over and lay them down flat and tape shut. You get easily stackable square which defrost very quickly.

Those ones with a seal that you press together would also be ideal for the same trick.

Whatever you do, label stuff.

Just that my mum's idea of freezing food used to be stick it in a tescos bag on a plate and put up with the freezer burn when it came back out. Nobody ever used to eat anything she froze.Grin

Suppose i am overthinking really. I blame the hormones.

Also, if you end up freezing EBM later 'tis handy to use the little bags (any brand will do) and lay them down to freeze too. I'd done a total of 20 months of BF over 2 DC before I worked that one out Blush

Brill will have to remember them. Dont speak dutch though...

A mixture of nice square/rectangular ice cream tubs or Ikea ones and plastic bags with the seal along the top.
You can flatten them before putting in the freezer for when you need something to thaw quickly and as you say squish them anywhere.

Another tip - those ice cubes trays are great for freezeing breastmilk in - each square in roughly eqivilent to an oz, and when frozen they can be popped out of tray and put into a sealable bag, then you can just take out as many as is needed.

See I knew it would be easier to come on here and ask rather than just guess. I am now going away to surprise my husband and come over all housewifey. Wink He might just have a heart attack from the shock...
