Anyone got a Breville Slow Cooker?

I am using mine for the first time to make a chilli. It has three settings - low, high and auto. The Auto setting should start high and then switch to a lower temp. When I came home it had been on for 6 hours and the chilli was bubbling away quite rapidly. I turned it to low and it is still boiling quite rapidly. Is this right?

I thought the low setting kept food warm at a low simmer. Could it be a problem with the thermostat or is this normal? The High setting must be very hot!

Any advice from wise slow cooker experts would be gratefully received - thanks! Does smell yum though Smile.

Anyone out there???? I am not after recipes honest, please talk to me about simmering rates on a low setting ....

Hmm I think I will take it back anyway as I darent use the high setting. But I KNOW there are MNetter's who have them as I bought it after recommendation here. Is there a secret shame about owning a slow cooker that I don't know about Wink.

I don't tend to even use the high setting of my (Tesco) one at all for this reason.
We went for a swim so I put my spag bog on the highest setting and it ended up stuck to the bottom.

I'm intrigued about the secret shame too.
My friends think they're great and off to buy one for winter, so I'm Confused

Have you tried with a casserole type of recipe?
It's only happened to me with spag bol so I thought it could perhaps be a mince thing. Big chunks of meat with a sauce don't seem to stick.

Hi morag thanks so much for the reply. The problem is mine was sticking and boiling very rapidly on the low setting. The book said it will not overcook vegetables and they were very overdone so it must be too hot! I have just googled and this seems to be a problem with Breville slow cookers so I will take it back.

But I will get another one as I think they are brill and I don't mind people knowing it Grin.

Out of interest I was reading a thread about threads people hate, and slow cooker ones seemed to appear quite a lot Grin so maybe there is something we just don't know about!!!

Thanks again.

Who knows about the secret sham
