Plums in a crumble

I've just rescued a load of plums from our little tree, far too many for us to eat in time so thought I'd do a crumble.

Do they need to be cooked before I put a cruble topping on, or just washed and halved with a bit of suger sprinkled on the top?

If no pre-cooking is needed, how long should I put the crumble in the oven for?

depends how ripe (or not) they are

if you;d be happy to eat them as they are then just halve, stone, top with crumble and 160C 30min

if they are rock hard / underripe / etc (as our greengages are) I stew and sweeten them first, slap crumble on while still hot and blast for 10-15min

Let e Google that for you! Smile.

I'm quite envious as our tree is fully laden with plums but when DD picked some last week the wasps had got into about 75% and it's too much hassle to pick through the whole lot on the off-chance some might have escaped.

Plum or hedgerow jelly is also lovely if you have enough.

Or even let me...

I never cook any fruit before crumbling it. I would quarter them, add a little sugar if they are sour, then crumble topping ( ground almonds in place of a third of the flour is very good with plums ) then high oven for 20 mins then lower to medium for another 20-30 have a look if browning and bubbling up through the sides you're on.

or you do know they freeze very well? you don't need to cook them first

Really? They freeze well? That's great news!

Can I then cook them from frozen?
