Do strawberries work in a crumble?

I have a punnet of strawberries which will be a bit squishy by tomorrow - will they be ok in a crumble or turn to mush?

They will go a bit mushy, but will taste fine. I would probably mix them with a sturdier fruit if you have some, like beach, or with some other berries that hold their shape more.

Yes, they will be a bit mushy but taste lovely! I always make strawberry crumbles when we have a glut. Enjoy!

My mam used to make strawberry and rhubarb crumble. Delish!

BelligerentGhoul · 22/08/2010 18:52

Yep, they'll be fine but deffo mix them with something else, such as apples or pears, so you don't get all mush.

apple and strawberry crumble is amazing

Great, got loads of apples and peaches looking a bit listless in the fruit basket.

I fancy a bit of rhubarb for next time now.
