Quiche: do you cook the bacon first?

Sorry this is probaby a rather basic question.

I want to make a Quiche Lorraine. I have consulted several recipe books and they all say "add bacon". Nowhere does it tell you whether this should be cooked first.

And do you just layer it on top of pastry or mix it in with egg mixture?

Confused

It doesn't need cooked first no. I usually lay it on top of the pastry and then pour the egg mixture on top of it.

I do and I layer it on the bottom. Yum yum homemade
quiche.

I always cook my bacon first and just layer it on top of half the cheese then piour over egg mix then more cheese.

I would but then I hate soggy fatty bacon - much nicer if crispier. But down to taste I guess.

I prefer it cooked

I do, and swear by the recipe "Ultimate Quiche Lorraine" on google, sometimes adding courgette aswell if its the season - mega delish and sooo easy.
