Having trieda while ago to get the nation excited about cheese without an awful lot of success Wink, I've continued my journeys through cheese alone . Having tried a number of cheeses, I now have a new cheese related poser for you Wink

So, what's your fantasy cheeseboard?

Mine is this:

Moody's pink peppercorn goat's cheese
A wedge of tetilla
Cropwell Bishop Stilton
Some quince paste
A few grapes (got to be seedless)
Some lovely crusty proper French country bread.

I love cheese, but i'm rubbish at there names. I'd do ANYTHING to have some gorgonzola at moment (but can't cos i'm pg!)

My brother does AMAZING cheeseboards when i visit and did a lovely one at Christmas with something called Eposse (sp?) which was all metly and runny....

Whoamireally · 20/08/2010 18:53

Yummmmm Epoisse I love it when it's really runny and you can practically eat it with a spoon!!

any chance you are getting married? You could have one of these

collision · 20/08/2010 18:59

Mine would be

a piece of Blacksticks Blue

A little Port Salut

A large piece of Sandhams mild

Krackerwheat crackers

DH's HM tomato chutney.

The glassiest, most mature cheddar to be found.

A hunk of Brie.

A baked camembert.

Grapes, celery, nuts, walnut bread, crysty white bread, another nice bread eg: a light rye or something with flavous in it.

Pickled onions and oat cakes.

Really fancy that now.

BelligerentGhoul · 20/08/2010 19:04

Oh and some radishes.

HerHonesty · 20/08/2010 21:10

comte (dont know how i get the accent) is always a winner. a bit of pont l'eveque. an italian blue. and a nutty swiss gruyere. NONE of that smoked german shite though.

a bit of apple is always nice.

and brue valley cheddar. only cos the farmer that makes it is our best friend...

My FIL made me buy some Epoisse (?) last Xmas and it stank my fridge out all holidays!
I'm sure we'll get some again this year

Taleggio
A ripe brie
A huge chunk of Roquefort
Rye bread
Cheddar (for the DC)
something dutch from Borough market that we'll have to search for hours for with FILWink

Am still trying to find a sweet Norwegian brown cheese made from the whey I had years ago. Anyone know of it?

tb · 21/08/2010 14:04

Is the Norwegian cheese Gjetost, googled on sweet brown Norwegian cheese and that's what it gave.

My own cheeseboard would have

small circles of goat's cheese with mango chutney or
goat's cheese log with olive oil and black pepper over it, or the spicy oil served with pizza in France
fresh peaches and Cheshire, Cheshire and more Cheshire

I live in France, and although there is even supermarket own-brand cheddar, you can't get Cheshire for love nor money. After 4 years, I'm pining.

moragbellingham · 21/08/2010 17:59

I can't stand Cheshire!
My Dad used to work in a cheshire cheese factory.
Everyone had to help turn the cheese every now and then (he hates cheese and worked in I.T.!!)
We used to have half a gigantic cheese every bloody week.

ArseHolio · 21/08/2010 18:04

Manchego
ossau irraty
yarg
soft goats cheese
baked camambert

crusty baguette with lashings of butter, grapes and slithers of red onion.

Yum!!

BelligerentGhoul · 22/08/2010 14:58

Have tasted that Norwegian one - thought it was horrible.

TitsalinaBumSquash · 22/08/2010 15:11

What a great question! Im a Cheese fiend.

I cant decide on a final one but would definatley need some

Stinking Bishop
A Good ripe Stilton

I would need a good Garlicky Soft cheese to

And then some warm crusty bread and some grapes and a large glass of Wine.

I do a party for close family every Christmas and i have a big CHeese board, my BIL is really fussy with food so i have to make sure there is an extra large slab or Mature Cheddar and some Jacobs crackers since that is all he will eat!

collision · 22/08/2010 15:53

DH says

(after consulting his cheese book!!)

Blacksticks ( blue cheese)

Creamy gorgonzola (blue cheese)

Mull of Kintyre (scottish mature cheddar)

Chaource (cows milk soft cheese)

Stinking Bishop (soft cheese washed in sherry)

HM chutney
Walnut bread

Definitely no celery or grapes for him though.
