On-line shopping. Where do I start?

Hoping for some top tips.
I shop at Tesco and me and ds1 (18m) and ds2(3yrs) go to Tesco every single day.
I'm getting a bit fed up with it and people keep telling me it's cheaper to do it on-line too.
But where do I start? I'm already registered with the Tesco site, but I'm not even sure what to order!

I suppose the best thing to do is to go through my kitchen and write up a list of all the things I am likely to need.....

definitely do a list. I work out what we are going to eat for 7 days and write down all the ingredients. Then add the staples like bread/milk/potatoes etc. If you forget anything you can go back and add it to your order.

The list making is what saves you the money....I don't browse and make impulse buys like I do when at the supermarket. I've found Tescos and Ocado the best for on line shopping.

Why do you go to tesco every single day?!

SilveryMoon · 19/08/2010 19:34

Thanks all.
compo Here are my reasons for going every day.... I don't drive so can only get so much home on the pushchair. Plus, when we moved here 2 years ago and didn't know anyone, it was a sure way of getting me and ds1 out of the house everyday.
Now it's just fallen into a routine, to the point where ds1 at 9:30am says "Mummy, we going tesco?"

I would register with all the main ones, and then see which one offers you free delivery or some other special offer first - then go with them. I rarely pay for delivery now as by the time I get all the way round the first one is sending another free delivery offer Grin

SilveryMoon, Tesco also has a favourites section, which (assuming you have a clubcard) remembers what you usually buy - when I haven't planned what we're going to eat, I use this to jog my memory for easy meals. I'd also recommend booking your delivery slot first, before you add anything to your basket, because this can affect how many meals you're planning for.
