Thought I would buy it while it was on offer as we get through loads and now have 2 four pinters in the freezer. My Mum seems to think it will seperate and taste vile when defrosted.

It is full fat milk BTW.

No its fine. I always have a carton in the freezer just in case I run out

YunoYurbubson · 14/08/2010 16:06

Fine. Give it a good shake before using.

We always do this.

Rhian82 · 14/08/2010 16:06

Yes it's fine, we've done this before.

Of course you can, I do it all the time. In fact, I always keep an emergency pint of milk in the frezer in case I ever run out (which is quite often!) It doesn't affect the taste at all. However, it does expand quite a bit. I freeze 2 pinters very regularly but have never done a 4 pinter - thought, I think you should be OK. Give it a bit of a shake when it's defrosted.

My mum can only get out shopping once a fortnight. She buys all her milk and freezes it.

I chuck all mine in the freezer before I go on holidays.

Never any trouble (semi-skimmed mostly)

I always freeze milk. The only thing I find is that it takes ages to defrost, so make sure you take it out a while before your last bottle in the fridge has all gone!

Quick question: why dont you just buy UHT milk and keep those 'emergency' pints in a cupboard? Then you dont have to worry about frozen milk... (UHT milk really doesnt taste any different from fresh you know...!)

pinkteddy · 14/08/2010 21:55

ooh it does - especially on breakfast cereal!

UHT milk = yuk! Then again, I can't stand artificial sweeteners in anything - yoghurt, drinks, etc. Apparently, some people are more sensitive to the taste than others. Think that probably applies to me and UHT milk too.
