Have been running the cupboards down and now have the space to stock up, so where's the best place to get large amounts of olive oil, flour, yeast, sugar, etc.

And what else do you find useful in bulk.
I make my own bread and am looking to expand the bakery side of things.
Large stocks of chocolate & wine wouldn't last the week in my house.

Second Asian supermarkets. Or very big branches of mainstream supermarkets in areas with a big asian population. Also how about Costco or Makro?...

My cupboards tend to contain a huge array of pulses, lentils, beans, chickpeas etc. Flour (another home breadmaker), yeast, sugar, oil, vinegar, mustard, soy sauce and other condiments. For some reason we never seem to have fewer than 8 cans of chopped tomatoes. Pasta and rice of all types. BIG herb and spice collection. Dried fruit. Fridge usually has a healthy amount of butter and cheese.

My M&S ready-meal loving friend always accuses me of having no food to eat in the house... just 'ingredients'. LOL

You can get flour straight from the mill in large sacks. I get mine from shipton mill

If you want to get large packs of herbs and spices try here

We don't have any Asian places around here because we have next to no ethnic minority population, but our local Tesco is a big place. You can buy huge packs of oil, rice etc. also bags of dried beans/lentils that weigh 2-3kgs.

sugarYou can get bulk tubs of vinegar here as well.

Thank you for all suggestions. I'm tired of the endless trips to the supermarket which during the holidays are full of extended famiies treating it like a day out 'hey guys lets all go to the long life juice section for the next ten minutes then see you at the pie counter'.

So we're running the stocks down (pickled walnut surprise next week) then buying in bulk.

Your internet suggestions are my new shopping destinations, filling up the basket.

We alays have 8 tins of toms along with a minimum of 3 packs of lasagne.
