suddenly toddler eating machine

My DD is 2 years and 3 months, and has been a very selective eater to date. I often wondered how on earth she managed to survive on the little she consumed. Never had noticeable growth-spurt related appetite surges or anything. Never asked for more pudding even

Well, for the last 3 weeks or so she has turned into a hollow-legged eating machine. Would just carry on eating and eating if I didn't say 'I think that's enough now'. So much so that I thought she must have worms until I looked it up and found out excess hunger isn't apparently one of the common symptoms...

She's not more active than usual and let's just say she tends toward the more sedentary end of the toddler spectrum in terms of her natural activity levels!

I feel a bit stupid asking this, but does anyone have any idea what on earth is going on? Is it just a mega growth spurt??! Do I really need to start controlling her portion size - never ever had to do this in the past as such a tiny sparrow-like eater.

It's a growth spurt. My DS is 10 and, his whole life, has gone through phases when he either eats next to nothing or 'a pig and nine young'uns' (as my Yorkshire friend would say) He 'blobs out' when he's in an eating phase and then seems to grow 3" overnight and be all skinny-ribs again. Try to go with it, providing plenty of good stuff to eat, plenty of filling veggies and plenty of variety. It will ease off in time.

chil1234 thanks for your response. Laughing at the yorkshireisms, coming not far from there originally.
