Hospital supplies?!

Hi

I am going into hospital next week for a c-section. I love my food and from what I remember of my last stay in hospital (2 nights/3 days) I was very hungry in the evenings, my usual picky time.

I have got some supplies in my bag; cereal bars, cartons of fresh juice, chocolate.

Was wondering if there is any food i could make and take in my bag that doesn't need refrigerated.

I am hoping for 3 night/4 day stay everything going to plan.

Savoury rice?
Pasta and veg?
Sandwiches? Which filling?

I could make some stuff and get DH to bring in each day. He doesn't cook so I would have to make sure food ready and easy to (heat up in microwave before bringing in)sort.

Any ideas? Feeling incredibly worried as I get very nausous if I am hungry.

I think sandwiches for your DH to bring in are a good idea. He could make those so they don't go soggy - maybe get a nice pack of ham or and get him to layer with cheese and salad and mayo in a baguette or something?

I think unrefrigerated snacks are the best option though - how about a big bag of trail mix with brazil nuts, sunflower seeds, banana chips, raisins, apricots, coconut, and papaya? That's a mix I like nibbling anyway! And more proteins and fats than cereal bars.

Also stuff that you can eat out of the packet without any utensils is best in hospital, so you don't have anything to fetch or clean up. Choccy is good, you could also get some of those munchy seeds (seasoned roasted seeds)?

Kettle chips - although I don't know if you're sharing a room and you would drive the other occupant mad with crunching!!

How about baking something like flapjacks and taking a few wrapped up? You could put fruit etc in them. Or buy the ready made ones (I love the thick chewy ones )

Right, I've made myself sufficiently hungry now so I'll be off Wishing you loads of luck though. x

Thanks

Sandwiches probably best way to go.

May take some toasted pitta breads and break them up and eat with some hoummous.
Some packets of cold meat/slice cheese and some crisps.

I wonder if i can take in a small cool bag?

Will ask midwife on thurs what she thinks.
