I made a made-it-up-as-you-go baked cheesecake with gooseberries in.

But there's only so many times you can have gooseberry crumble, eve's pud and such before the family goes all green and hairy!

Same problem luck here so i've just made a spiced chutney thing. Think it will be nice in the winter with onion bajhis and curry etc. I've kept it quite tart so hoping it'll be a lime pickle substitute...at the very least i'll stir it in to curry to add a faux tamarind note.

They are supposed to go very nicely with oily fish like mackrel.

And they make a lovely wine.

And we've frozen some to stew and stir in to yoghurt when desperate there's not much else around. I couldn't even bring myself to make one pie or crumble this year. They have come a bit late and so clashed with the infinatly better raspberry. Sorry goosegogs!

Gooseberry fool is delish. I made a gooseberry crumble the other night (got 2 punnets from Waitrose for 15p each, reduced from £2.50 each - bargain!)

MFM they're known as goosegogs in our house too, came from my Grandma, thought we were the only ones!!

i too have a million of them

My favourite chutney is gooseberry and coriander. Can look up the ingredients if you like? (I buy it so don't have a recipe, but imagine it's fairly straightforward).

Also Waitrose Kitchen magazine has a lovely sounding no-ice-cream-maker-needed gooseberry and elderflower semifreddo recipe in this month.

And they do go very well with mackerel, or pork: just poach in a little bit of water with some sugar. You can add creme fraiche and butter if you want.

I made a delicious gooseberry ice cream yesterday (Hugh F-W recipe).

I second the gooseberry icecream

And my mum used to make an amazing gooseberry cheesecake if she was having a dinner party - they'd always save me a slice and i'd have it for breakfast the next day - happy memories!

Plus you can freeze them to use later....
