...to introduce them to as many different varieties as possible before they are one year old. Apparently. According to this .

So if you have a dd like mine who refuses any solid food until well over 12 months then you are stuffed, I suppose. Luckily she is not too much of a fussy eater, but we'll see how she develops - she's 2 now. Dd1 only had jars (oh the shame ) until she was a year old, but she isn't fussy at all now and she's four now...

I just don't think it's as simple as they make out.

Same problem here, ds1, now 17mths was an OK eater and was given a wide variety of fruit and veg, but now spits out just about everything and is living on milk and yogurt.

How ridiculous. As a baby ds ate most vegs, pureed, and even some as finger foods, even mushrooms and peppers. Now at two and a half the only ones he will eat are potato, baked beans, peas and corn (when mixed with rice), and rarely, slices of cooked carrot. At nursery they serve broccoli sometimes and they say he eats it, so I must figure out how they present it to him! I keep giving him small amounts of vegetables in the hope he will at least try them. But he eats most fruit except citrus, so it's not all bad.

I am so pleased to hear people say this by the way. I have been convinced that I did something dreadfully wrong when ds was 14 months old, and that is why he won't eat his veg.

It's so very comforting to hear how common this is!
