I think I'm still on classic. How do I switch to new?

Stretch · 30/01/2009 20:25

If you don't like the blue, then change try changing to mumsnet sober workplace, no colour at all.

policywonk · 30/01/2009 20:25

korma, I do suspect that that might be the case. I can see that active convos is different, but once I'm 'in' a thread it looks exactly the same as yesterday, except in a slightly different colour. I think different browsers must be showing different things??

melpomene · 30/01/2009 20:25

I've switched to 'Classic' but have huge white margins on both sides of the window. And the ads definitely look bigger,

Remotew · 30/01/2009 20:27

Still on classic anyway. I've sorted my techy problems out now. Looks more 'modern'. All in the name of progress.

Watusi · 30/01/2009 20:28

@hab

you see i sat here, going 'o'

'e'
'o'
'e'

'o'

It was 50/50

Threadworm · 30/01/2009 20:28

But it is active convos that is so horrible. Hard to read, and truncated thread titles. Why did it have to be changed again so soon after the last revamp?

Rationale is 'new users said old version hard to navigate' -- but that was rationale last time too, a year ago.

Changes in top and bottom menus good, but changes in main body of screen daft and pointless.

I am right about this so I don't care if everyone else disagrees with me.

Watusi · 30/01/2009 20:29

Thready I hate that too but it is Ok in classic

Just go to classic for now

Nothing is truncated I promise

Watusi · 30/01/2009 20:30

Oh shit sorry yes the titles are cut short

I have alreayd got used to it and didn't notice

nappyaddict · 30/01/2009 20:30

How do you switch over to new?

Threadworm · 30/01/2009 20:30

Well I thought I had got as close to classic as I could. I've clicked on classic; I've gone into My MN and entered password, etc

???????

Stretch · 30/01/2009 20:31

They said the thread title thing would be changed, or they're trying to!

MauriceDancer · 30/01/2009 20:31

i'm so confused...

it kinda looks the same but the white is so WHITE.

Stretch · 30/01/2009 20:32

I had to press the change to MN classic button twice to work?? Maybe that will help??

Lemontart · 30/01/2009 20:32

For those who find the text too small - most browsers have options to increase text size don?t they? In Safari, the top tab with 'view' has a make text bigger button and hey presto it is easier to read

MauriceDancer · 30/01/2009 20:33

i want it wider again. boo hiss.

but apart from that and the WHITE, it's much the same innit?

Lemontart · 30/01/2009 20:37

I have been trying out the "mumsnet new" customize option and thought I would try switching back to classic just to see.. I admit, I went straight back and put it back to "new". For me, it is much easier to follow with the little pale blue dividing box thingies.
Yup, quite like it now

At first, the big white columns down the side did seem a little strange and was wishing for wider threads. Then I reduced my screen area and it looks a lot better. Also means I can have other windows open too, streamlining my desktop nicely. For those who find they dislike the whiteness of the borders, try manually resizing the page until they disappear and see if you like it too. Really simple and bit obvious perhaps, but makes it look tons better for me

LyraSilvertongue · 30/01/2009 22:25

Right, I just logged out and it seems I was still in classic mode because the logged out version was very different. Much like every other forum out there.
If you want to check if you're seeing new or classic, log out then click on active convos.

I'm not fussed really

RipVanTwinklemegan · 30/01/2009 22:38

I don't like the version I see when I logged out, but it's a look that will be familiar to people using other talkboards so I can see the logic. Logged in, and on classic, it's fine, although the threads I've looked at don't seem to be highlighted in Active Convos which is irritating. TBH, as long as I don't have to use those god awful pages, I'm fine with it.

random · 30/01/2009 22:40

at pages

MarmadukeScarlet · 30/01/2009 22:48

you don't have to have pages random, just go to customize and you can set it not to have pages - I disliked the pages from the last change.
