A short and inglorious career

I thought some posters may appreciate the input of a dentist on MN, other sites I post on love it. But, despite offering to prove my registration and genuineness(word) to MNHQ, I have been told that MNers don't appreciate professionals posting on here. So I'm off, back to my old haunts to spread the word.

There are other dentists, and GPs and solicitors, and HR professionals and breastfeeding counsellors on mumsnet who all offer advice or support.

However, they post here on other issues as well, not just as a professional.

Perhaps that's what MNHQ means.

I actually do need the advice of a dentist, this very minute. DS (21 months) fell about an hour ago and chipped off about a third of his front tooth Sad

Could you tell me if the broken piece can be stuck back on, or if the tooth can beet be repaired otherwise?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Yeah cos you're the only dentist on here! Hmm

BTW do you take on NHS patients???

IngridBergmann · 09/02/2011 19:56

Who told you that? Getting a dentist answering your post at 2am when you have an abscess is like striking secret gold.

There are a good few of you and trust me, you are appreciated.

I've noticed you on a thread, being appreciated. A few weeks ago I think. Smile

But post about other stuff too and you don't have to declare your profession if you don't want to.

I guess I will not have an answer?

IngridBergmann · 10/02/2011 08:58

Well Cote in the absence of anyone qualified, I would suggest it can't be repaired by gluing back the broken piece, however you should get him looked at to make sure the damage won't cause the tooth to degenerate.

He will have his adult tooth in a few years anyway so that's good.

Poor little chap!

I can't imagine for one minute that MNHQ actually said "MNers don't appreciate professionals posting on here".

CoteDAzur · 10/02/2011 13:11

Ingrid - Thanks for that. I am taking him to a dentist this afternoon. He told me to store the broken piece in milk to keep it rehydrated & said he might be able to stick it back on, depending on how cooperative DS is (not, is my guess).

My milk teeth didn't start to come out until I was 8. DD is 5.6 and all her milk teeth ares still very firmly in place. So I'm a bit worried that DS will have to keep this broken tooth for another six years or so Sad
