haven't been on here for months so bet noone knows me from a can of paint by now but am taking a leaf out of Bibbity's book and saying bye bye before I bugger off for good. tis only polite after all...

I joined Mumsnet in June '09- sort of by mistake- and took to it like a fucking duck to water Grin. Within a couple of days I had had my first thread pulled-an anonymous whinge about my kids' school. It kicked off a whole chain of events after the school's dep head got involved on the thread amongst other things. This resulted in me waking up to all sorts of stuff I had tried not to notice/think about. Now- for the time being anyway- we're home educating and we are all very very happy as a result.

What I want to say is that mn- while it didn't change my life exactly- opened up all sorts of new things to me that had been lurking at the back or in the middle of my mind. Home ed was just a pipe dream till I came on here- I didn't realise 'normal' people did it. Ditto (re) joining the Labour party Grin. There's been all sorts of Useful Stuff- from getting me through the election and reconfirming my identity as a feminist to cures for carsickness (newspaper under the bum) and tips as to where to pick up a cheap bell tent (the Netherlands Smile). I've lost whole days larffing- specially at the Extended troll thread and the IPOAT ones- but literally hundreds of others as well.

It has been an absolute blast and a massively enriching experience for me [puke emoticon]. I've been amazed at the bravery resourcefulness and humour that posters have shown- as well as laughing my head off plenty of times I've often been moved to tears. I've also had to stomp around outside in a fury after some of the politics/dogs/benefits etc threads- but even that was sort of fun. I think you're all (mostly Wink) brilliant- but I have a family to bring up dogs to walk friendships to maintain and a filthy house to clean- not to mention a relationship to sustain Grin-and I just can't manage them and this as well- so am off-I-fucking and I shan't let the door bang my arse on the way out

have fun!

love

SpringHeeledJack/Preciouslillywhite/MsMaryWollstonecraft and other names that now escape me Grin

...can I do (((((((((hugs))))))) now??

welcome back after your sojourn

SpringHeeledJack · 08/10/2010 21:42

was that one of yours Dinah? if so thanks

I am sure there can't be any scientific basis for it but it has a pretty good placebo effect on my 7 yo!
