Need to temporarily move tank

It’s My first time on fishnet and I’m looking for some help. We’re doing some DIY and after much investigation searching for an alternative the only route for a cable is under my son’s floor right beneath his tank.

This means we need to move it for a day and move it back. It’s a 65litre tank with a handful of tetra and some shrimp living there very happily. It’s a sand base and has live plants.

Are they likely to be ok if we just move it. Probably after emptying some of the water like we would for a clean. Or is it risky disturbing the substrate.

I’ve never had to relocate fish before, either permanently or temporarily and would like to get it right. Thanks!

For moving your tank, it fortunately isn't huge in fish tank standards which does make it easier (I dread trying to move my 200L if I ever get round to decorating the living room).

The biggest issue is not the substrate, but trying to move it when it's too heavy and straining the seams of the tank causing a crack or a leak.

I would take out at least half the water, you don't have to do a full water change, and very carefully move it from there.

With the sand substrate, to avoid gas bubbles this should be getting a regular gentle stir where there aren't plant roots.
