Surprise Guppy Fry!

Went and bought 5 guppys yesterday, 4 female and one male. Had planned on getting a breeding box or a separate small tank in a couple of weeks for the inevitable fry! I thought one looked pregnant last night but I wasn't 100% sure and they were in seperate tanks in the shop. So imagine my suprise when I went over to the tank to look for my new bristlenoses to find a fry on the bottom of the tank at the front against the glass. There is still one or two I have seen swimming around and getting chased but they managed to swim away and hide again. I have a three foot tank and it is still very lightly stocked and has lots of hiding places so I'm hoping I may get one or two survive.

I'm now convinced at least one of the others is pregnant too. If not all of them!

I find my guppies breed very easily, a simple water top up seems to help too.

Yeah I knew they bred easily before I got them. Just didn't expect to be dealing with fry the day after I fetched them home 😂

If there decent plants and hence hiding space in the aquarium they seem to survive ok. I do feed fry food for them when they're very little other wise they get standard tropical aquarium flake.

Yeah I noticed them too late to go and get any fry food. Will be feeding time soon so will see if any pop out for some food.

Squish the flake up tiny and they can and go eat it.

Do not go!

Have fed them. I counted 4 during feeding. So I know there is at least that many still around.

They'll be ok.
