Just got back from the tip and they had a huge tank there (maybe 300ltrs at least), i was calling out my name but i had to walk away (came home with 2 sauce pans instead). Am now sitting here imagining what fish i could keep in such a good size tank Smile

Go and buy it! You know you want to. Grin

And saucepans? I really want to see what your tip is like. They seem to have everything on sale Hmm

I got this and is new (looks like it has never been used) and another one similar Smile.

There were a few tanks there (none had hoods though), several tiny tanks (maybe ok for fry?) and this huge tank, it needs a lot of cleaning though but would make a good project. Not sure it would fit in my car Sad and i deffently don't have space in the house (not now dd1 is nagging for a piano).

The pan looks like the one on BGT last night Grin

Hoods are not a necessity, you can easily get lighting without a hood. I have this on one of my tanks and it is perfect. You could also get one like this here.

Now, get yourself an estate and tell your DD to learn keyboard instead, so it can be shoved behind a wardrobe when not in use ;)

I actually have a confession to make. I got a tank that I am picking up later. Found it on a local forum and couldn't resist. Have seen it 'in flesh' already and fallen in love. It is ginormous! 48 x 24 x 18 (inches!) that's 340 litres, perfect nik with beautiful black hand-made cabinet. All for £100! It will be my marine tank. Have just rearranged the whole kitchen / diner in order to fit it in, but it got the perfect space waiting now. Just need to find money to start marine, so for a while I will be staring at a beautiful but empty tank.

Oh, how exciting, i bet you cant wait to pick it up? I would need a hood as we have a cat who loves to hunt fish Sad, i think dh would devorce me if i came home with a tank that big (he will be more pleased with my sauce pans).

Oops, yes a cat would love a free meal. My dog isn't bothered about fish at all.

DH is just as enthusiastic as me. We went to that bloke to pick up some airpumps last week and we both saw it, and knew that it was the perfect tank for our marine project. Two hours and it is mine! Can add a picture later :)

Ooh, envy! I'm currently tankless - refilling after adding new substrate created leaks and the tank was too small for the alcove in the dining room, so we fixed and sold it.

So now I need a 5-foot cupboard and a tank to go on it, but MrNC wants a 'nice-looking' oak one - the sort of thing that costs £1000! I'm following Ebay...

MamaPizza- hope your enjoying your new tank, any pic's yet? Grin

I went to another local tip today and very almost bought a tank but again it didn't have a hood, was a 150litre with wood trim (looked like a good tank).

Tank is fab! I am staring at an empty tank, how mad am I? DS loves playing hide and seek in the enormous cabinet, must stop him before sump goes in. Will try and get a decent pic soon.

Get rid of the cat and you won't need a hood tongue firmly in cheek Grin
